I recommend printing the document that Emily posted here at the beginning of your position and talking to your supervisor about which logs make the most sense for you to be reporting.  That way you have a plan and know what kind of units you should be keeping track of!

Great video Rob!  I'd just like to reiterate the importance of using the correct unit of measurement in the "how much you did" field (for output logs).  As Rob mentioned, the unit we are looking for is listed after the category or sub-category and will be in parentheses.  This is SO important because we want to be able to see what all of our members are doing cumulatively across the country!

Life in the Desert

Hello fellow SCA members :) My name is Laura and I am studying Environmental Science at Juniata College in Pennsylania, from Connecticut. I am serving as a Public Safety intern with the Army Corps of Engineers (as well as Americorps and SCA of course) at Conchas Lake in Conchas, New Mexico.

It has been a bit of a culture shock here for me, with the town being so small, but the desert is beautiful and my coworkers are some of the nicest people I've met. This summer I will be (and have…

So it begins...

Today, May 22nd, I begin my SCA journey. This morning I woke up to find an email from SCA crews; I had received a summer national crew placement. I honestly had given up hope since my availability dates were so limited, so I didn't expect to get a placement, but luckily I was proven wrong. I opened the email on my phone and my eyes went immediately to "congratulations". I quickly began skimming the email for the important details, location and dates. Well turns out I'll be heading to Alaska,…See More
