Conservation Begins Here
The SCA Massachusetts AmeriCorps program, headquartered at Kenneth Dubuque Memorial State Forest in Hawley, works in partnership with Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR), the Massachusetts Service Alliance and the Corporation for National and Community Service (AmeriCorps) to teach environmental education to youth and complete high priority conservation projects across the Commonwealth. Our program has 17 corps members that serve for 10 months, starting off teaching environmental education and science in local schools. In March, an additional 9 members will join the program to do trail work.

Comment by Jessica Harwood on January 17, 2013 at 12:21pm Come volunteer with our members in Quincy! We are having a volunteer event at Squatum Point Park on Thursday, Feb 21, from 10 am to 3 pm. Come for a few hours and do some pruning and trash removal. Let us know if you are coming and when.

Join this AmeriCorps program and learn trail skills; carpentry, chainsaw, or griphoist; and advanced wilderness first aid. Then set out across the state of Massachusetts, from Cape Cod to the Berkshires to do trail projects. Apply here!

With just over a week until I officially move out to Colorado for my internship in Rocky Mountain National Park, the time is flying by.
